rengoku is the kind of person that you wont understand at first glance. he is very passionate, kind of unpredictable, loud, and energetic. he seems like a person who has a strong sense of justice and he is super helpful, kind, forgiving, uplifting, yet he completely turns a blind eye to the most brutal kind of work that he does.

he has an extremely weird past, completely unknown to himself, its a blank in his own memory. he grew up being born in a labour camp, born to a mother and father deemed "unfit" by the government. the way he grew up made this completely normal to him, he grew up believing he had to work hard to survive, and that he had to snitch on his loved ones to stay alive. he watched bad things happen to everyone around him, but he did it all for survival

when he was going to get married off to be married into rights, he wrote a letter to the dear leader kusunoki, who was touched by rengoku's life story. noki personally visited rengoku, and offered him a chance to join the military, under the condition they would change his identity and erase his past. rengoku agreed, and thus began his life as a soldier of the nation. they changed his gender from female to male, changed his name to rengoku, and erased all memories of his past life, through a lobotomy. it caused his personality to shift dramatically. rengoku and kusunoki are close friends now, maybe even best friends, or found family.

he is suuuuuper energtic and naturally quite loud too, he has a super optimistic outlook on life and is always trying to see the best in people, even when he fundementally doesnt even agree with them. he has a very forgiving nature. he is the kind of person that wants everyone to be friends when its obvious it wont work out, and he will try his hardest to make it happen. sometimes he annoys people with this trait, but hes not doing any of it on purpose, he has a little bit of an unawareness to social cues and its generally just a result of the brain surgery. hes just a little guy i promiiiise !

demeanor

he carries himself with alot of confidence, mainly because he doesnt really feel fear or nervousness like a normal person he would always be smiling at you and he squints his eyes alot. he can hold eyecontact really well and wont just randomly look away, he tried to look really hard like hes paying attention

temperament

he doesnt get angry at all !! his emotional regulation is very good, he never takes anything personally it just doesnt really fully register to him, he would always assume the other person is "taken" by their emotions. hes always the first to apologise and always makes up for any arguments. him and hayato really want people to get along with eachother

social

he LOVES to make friends, of course only within the "class" noki advises him to make friends in, if he could he would be friends with his very own prisoners but hes highly advised not to do that so he doesnt. he doesnt feel any romantic or sexual attraction towards anyone and its one of the only things he feels uncomfortable or genuinely disgusted by, its something thats so baked into him that even brainwashing and surgery couldnt erase that disgust.

intellect

hes not... STUPID, or ultimately unintelligent, but he definetly has a setback, not in terms of what he can remember, what he can study, or what he can apply in the military, but emotionally i would say hes not the smartest. in practical application hes great and he picks up good on commands !

strengths

he is able to do the most grusome and immoral work without it haunting him or without guilt, he can watch people suffer and simply and fundementally believe this is the right thing and that hes doing a good job because his leader kusunoki told him so. because of that hes able to carry a heavy burden, all while having a very positive outlook on life and treating those who are deemed good amazingly, hes well loved in that regard, but partially because people dont know the full truth about him...

flaws

it goes well with his main strengh, the lack of emotional maturity and the inability to form deeper connections beyond the one he formed with noki, he emotionally relies alot on noki, as well as nachi who is his other best friend, but nachi is bubbly just like him so its not quite the same. he cant understand morals right

motivation

he doesnt have any motivations, as far as he is aware he was made to be kusunoki's second hand man and his best friend, so he just wants to make kusunoki happy and proud of him. all of his friends know about his past and kusunoki assures him his past self chose this life hes living now in absolute and full confidence, so to feel closer to his past self he fulfills all his duties

hobbies

he would do lots of different crafts, i think he would like painting landscapes like bob ross, i think he woudl make scrapbook collages instead of journalling to get his feelings out on paper, he would make bracelets, and do nail art on nachi and yuma. he likes videogames like minecraft

he always carries period products with him if he has a bag of sorts

he loves to play chess with akito-san and hes really good at it too !!!

one of his favorite meals is to buy a spicy pack of buldak ramen, put 20 slices of that plastic cheese and a bunch of extra hot sauce

he loves to swim !!! him and nachi do jumping dive competitions !!!

he believes animal crossing villagers have real souls and actually live in his switch. he believes this with a bunch of videogames but it started with animal crossing
